- Prepare your concrete or sand base with a minimum depth of two inches. Stamp your sand base to ensure its level and firmly packed.
- You can use a straight-edged board such as a two-by-four to make sure your base is level.
- Install your first block using the adhesive or glue that is recommended for your block type.
- Before installing your Belgian block spacer, apply adhesive to the top of the block’s four corners or any exposed edges of your retaining wall.
- Clip the end of the Belgian block spacers. Apply the block spacers about two inches from the edge of the block. Be sure to push the spacer into the adhesive.

- Continue building your base layer of blocks checking for level as you go. If necessary blocks can be cut easily using a cut-off saw.
- Continue your wall with additional layers of Belgian Blocks. Be sure to stagger your joints and use the Master Mark Belgian Block Spacers on every block. Do not skip any blocks and make sure that each block uses two spacers.
Once complete, your wall will have a clean beautiful finish without the need for seams or joint compound.
